Oil filter housing leak. There were no oil changes in between. The element that the round part sits in warper allowing the seal between it and the engine block to leak oil. Replace the rubber seal and you will be.

It may require some diagnosis to determine if the leak comes from the filter housing gasket, or from another area of the engine.

I replaced the oil cooler/ filter housing again, which fixed the leak. I have spoken to other chrysler techs about this. Some ofgh repairs are far more complicated.

Drain the oild and use a 15/16 socket to get the cooler off. I have one of those on mine, and it doesn't leak a drop. Oil filter housing gasket leaks can and should be caught during basic maintenance.

And this filter is like 15$ what the heck. Oil filter housing gasket leak. One of the part supply vendors apparently had a process or quality control issue.

46317 replaced by the dealer under warranty. I can see the oil pool formed near the base of oil cooler housing. The oil filter housing leak, when severe enough, can create a trail of oil all the way down the front of the timing cover, eventually coating the serpentine belt and crankshaft pulley.

The area between the rubber gasket and oil filter housing is the area known to be poor at containing oil and is the most likely cause for your oil leak. Its about $30 parts and 1 hour of labor, costing a total of $150 for the repair. I highly recommend all 3.6 owners check that location frequently, sooner or later you will see a small puddle of oil.

The oil filter housings do not physically break. I also followed bolt tightening sequences and proper torque settings. This includes potentially saturating the upper radiator hose, leaving the rubber mushy and more prone to failure.

So the oil filter housing element is what failed. Over time, this area can become misaligned and oil may begin to leak out of the gap. 65000 out of powertrain warranty, don't wanna spend any money again on fca product.

The element is a squarish block made of plastic. Ive not heard of the dreaded oil filter housing leak. Looked from underneath and found oil collecting at bottom of housing but did not appear to be coming from seal surface, nor from sensor or banjo bolt.

I then found the correct size of filter wrench at pep boys (86.4 mm) and used a torque wrench to verify it was tightened to 25 nm (25.4 ft lbs). As you can see in the pictures below there is lots of fresh engine oil all over the underside of the engine. 5 months later, the leak returned; It is very difficult to tell but i am suspecting one of the aluminum plugs is leaking.

From what i was told, the reason why you don't get coolant in the oil is because higher oil pressure forces oil in the coolant but not the other way around at the oil filter housing. I replaced the oil cooler/ filter housing and noticed the leak was gone. The leaks were not major, no drip on the driveway.

The filter threads onto an oil filter housing on the engine. Thats what was causing my leak. By doing a visual inspection, you will be able to get to the bottom of where the oil is leaking from.

I recently got an oil change, and took the d back to the dealer for something else and they noted a slight leak they said was due to a loose oil filter. Mobil 1 synthetic oil filter never had a problem. Among other issues this can be caused by a failing oil filter housing gasket.
